Dan Tobin offers a variety of
consulting services to corporations, their human resources departments, and
their training groups. These include: |
|
|
|
Strategic Planning Services - Working with the training
group and/or the human resources department, I can help develop a strategic
training/learning plan that ties directly to, and directly supports, the
company's strategic business objectives and goals. This often involves
re-defining the role of training and learning activities within the company
and adapting the strategic planning process for these activities so that it
flows directly from the company's strategic business planning process. |
|
|
Developing and Training an Advisory Board - A properly constituted and
trained advisory board can serve the training function in two vital ways.
First, it can serve to keep the training/learning group informed of changes
in the company's strategic business directions and advise on how
training/learning programs can best help the company achieve its business
goals. Second, members of the Advisory Board can serve as key advocates for
the training/learning group's efforts to their respective business units and
functions. Consulting services include helping to identify and recruit
Advisory Board members, doing initial training for the Advisory Board, and
providing on-going support to the training/learning group on the running of
the Advisory Board. (See publications
page for an article on advisory boards.) |
|
|
Expanding the Repertoire of the Training Group - Dan Tobin can provide
orientation and training to your training group on how to expand your repertoire
from traditional training and development programs to a wider array of
learning activities. This re-orientation helps to move training group members
from traditional roles as instructional designers and trainers to a wider
focus as learning facilitators. |
|
|
Developing Learning Contracts - Working with the training
group, Dan Tobin can provide training on the development and implementation
of individual learning contracts (see article entitled Take Responsibility for
Your Own Learning). Further workshops can be held for company managers on
how to work with their employees to create learning contracts or with the
training/learning staff in a train-the-trainer mode. |
|
|
Developing and Maintaining a Knowledge Network - Dan Tobin can provide
consulting and proven methods for developing and maintaining your company's
knowledge network. This work focuses on the human side of knowledge, such as
how to get people to share their knowledge and skills with each other, how to
get people to utilize the knowledge network, building and maintaining the
content of the databases, etc. It does NOT include advice on specific
technologies to be used to build the network. |
|
|
Strategic
Learning Projects
- Often, when a training group is trying to transform itself, it needs to
score a significant, high impact win to prove its worth to the company. Dan
Tobin can advise your training group in the selection of a high impact
project and coach the training staff through the building and implementation
of that project to help prove that the new model works. Using an action learning approach, the
selected project will be designed to have an immediate impact on corporate
business goals. |
